Title
[D8936AAP], Letter from Edison Electric Illuminating Co (Paterson), William M Brock to Thomas Alva Edison, July 22nd, 1889
Editor's Notes
I express to day to your address 4 lamps which have been returned to us by the Phoenix mills people who are testing 100 of our lamps with a view to displacing 1100 Sawyer-Mann lamps now installed in their mill. You will observe that the carbon breaks at the point of union to this mill about 15 have given out in this way, I sent a few of them to the lamp factory some days ago, as this is the starting point of a prospective raid on about 10,000 Sawyer-Mann lamps it is very important that we make a good showing at this mill, Hence I trust you will kindly look into this matter & advise [TAE marg: "Mr. Mashall should personally investiage this=Its due undoubtedly to inferior lamp paste or carelessness in putting in=This deficit at clamps which is a known thing is a disgrace to the Lamp Co--There is some excuse in a filiment which we have to guess about but not so with clamping etc"]
