Title
[D8936AAT], Letter from Edison Electric Illuminating Co (Brooklyn), R S White to Cornelius J Field, September 21st, 1889
Editor's Notes
memorandum to Mr. Field####Brooklyn, Sept. 21st, 1889####Of the 38 meter plates received this morning from Bergmann & Co., 17 proed defectiev. In setting up a pair of plates, the cork bound the rods, and the slight pressure thus produced cracked the lug. This called my attention to this defect, and upon trying the rest, found 17 that yielded upon slight pressure. I think two things would help this--putting less Mercury in composition, say 2% instead of 5% as at present, and instead of spreading the foot of the rod, notching it.####R.S White####[name mentions: R.S White, Bergmann & Co, C.J Field, Edison Electric Illuminating Co.]
