- Title
- [D8938ABU], Letter from Edison Lamp Co, Francis Robbins Upton to Arnold Marcus, November 5th, 1889
- Editor's Notes
- [enclosed with D8938ABQ] With this is copy of our Mr. J. W. Howell's report upon the Pieper Arc-Incandescent Contact lamps. In this report may be found that the lamp burned in series from 100 volt incandescent circuit, is apt to arc and go out from accidents happenening to the carbons. This fault condems the lamp in my opinion for use from Edison stations. ## The economy of the lamp is not sufficiently great to make it a very active competitor to incandescent lamps of high economy…."
