[from Milwaukee] The Chicago Edison Co in 1883 obtained a franchise from this City and did not do anything but inside work then the S.P. [Dennis?] Co Limited (d--d limited) got another and did nothing. Then Churchill came here and got some money sub------ and one man died and his Company want --. Then Leonard had an option & did nothing for the last six months. Now the Edison CO has a good name here for wind and a bad one for business. I shall be in New York Saturday next and if the Company will put up the money in any bank here so as to satisfy these people they have the money to go on with the work. I CAN place 50% of the stock and I can get the franchises. It is no use to try to do anything here until we satisfy the people that we have the money.####The only opposition is the Badger Arc Co using Y &H system. They will sell to us or make a combination and if we do not want to do that they are not strong enough to fight me. The Westinghouse have made a combination with the [Western?] Electric Co. The Weastinghouse are now try to form a company of $100,000 capitalizaation they have put up $30,000 in cash and the were paper have taken $40,000 total $70,000.####I have a promise from the Prest of the Geo Co here that they will not fight us because I went to them and offered them 50% of our stock at par. Some of them may come in but they will not oppose us.####Now if the Edison Co means business about putting up many and not talk ---- is the place to do it and I want you to stand by me and ---- use to get them to what they certainly should do at once.####I will be at the New York Hotel Friday night and I will try to see you Saturday evening.
