- I have delayed writing to you expecting every day to receive from you the paper which I prepaed for the meeting of the American Insitute of Mining Engineers and [note too small to read] tomorrow for your revision. I has not yet come to hand and I therefore do not know your wishes. Mrs. Birkinbine's health has been such that I have been detained in the City but I hope to be able to come over to the Laboratory tomorrow with the party of mining engineers. I have made some modifications to the paper and when I get to the laboratory a few minutes conference will probably make everything satisfactory. Mr. McGinness of W.H.Walbaum & Co. informs me that he has the mill scale cinder ready and has arranged for convertor spittings convertor pit slag, and spiegel cupola slag, which you desired to experiment with
