- "Since I wrote you and forwarded the sample of natural Paraphine, I have learned that that which I sent you was a very poor sample That it is by far richer in Paraphine and when first taken out is very soft and cuts like cheese. I am also informed that the red part is almost imperishable in a very strong heat. Would it not be a good thing to be used in the make up of Carbons for the electric light. I have subjected it to a strong heat and it did not diminish in size or wast at all. I have sent for a larger and better sample and hope to hear fro it very soon. This lies in between two hills and in many hundred feet long and wide and in over 80 feet thick, so you see there must be a very large amount of it. I shall be pleased to hear from you at y our earliest convenience and if you think this worthy of your attention will call and see you."
