Title
[D8957AAF], Letter from Eugene Howard Lewis to Alfred Ord Tate, June 27th, 1889
Editor's Notes
Iam engaged in the preparation of a trust agreement to be executed by Edison to the Garfield Safe Deposit Co. in pursuance of your understanding with Eaton. Think it best to annex to the trust agreement copies of the May 12, 1889 agreement between Edison and Edison Phonograph Works. Can you send me 2 or 3 copies? Will you inform me whether our figures agree? Am assuming that 52 per centum of the entire capital stock of the Phonograph Works has been issued to Edison and that this amounts to $156,000 or 1560 shares; as I compute it, 38 per centum of this amount equals $59,280 or 592 8/10 shares. I am assuming that the dividends declared in excess of 25 per centum are to be paid over by the First Co. to Edison. Upon these assumptions, I have already drawn the trust deed and will have the same ready for execution.
