Title
[D8958AAB], Letter from Julius H Block to Thomas Alva Edison, July 15th, 1889
Editor's Notes
[Letterhead of New York Belting & Packing Co.] Have a letter of introduction to you from Cheever but want to address you before coming to visit your works. Don't want to intrude upon you when conversation should inconvenience you, yet would be disappointed if I couldn't make use of Cheever's introduction.###"I am pretty certain a short chat will be of mutual benefit as regards the business of Russia & you would, besides, confer a great honor upon writer of this . . ."; Would you appoint a time between Weds. and Sat. day or night. "I return Saturday by S.S. Etruria for Moscow, & would very much like to give you some information about Col. Gouraud--my plans about Russia--facilitites we possess &c--- [P.S. had the pleasure of recording the first Russian message on a cylinder in London addressed to you, which Gouraud was to send you in Feb., and thus was "phonographically" introduced to you.]
