Title
[D8959ACV], Telegram from Alfred Ord Tate to Samuel Insull, July 25th, 1889
Editor's Notes
[interesting role for Alfred Tate---interpreting London commercial situation] [cable from Ruoun] ]Just received written order from Gouraud fifty machines saying expect repeat the same monthly but each orders stand on own merits. Wants payments to be made monthly for previous deliveries sixty day draft which I have refused well send order details when he agrees payments New York, States has decided perfect agencies organization can't use many machines until this accomplished. This policy insincere has no money can't get any for agency business orders to the number of one thousand given before my coming, known expecting would conceal real real intention which is to delay sending sale or alliance. Opposition to form company for both interest I am advised Pender, Balfour, Anderson, Leyland and others, Gouraud can do nothing loud on money marked account personal distrust. Better wait all my report mail up to the 23rd before advising will lose nothing by delay Gouraud can send Connery concession will confirm.
