Title
[D8959AFY], Letter from Jonathan Lewis Young to Thomas Alva Edison, November 4th, 1889
Editor's Notes
Dear Mr Edison, On using the new M machine today I was struck with the possibility of using an eccentric cam for the locking of the side arm instead of the screw-- Could not this done with advantage? I feel sure that existing patters need not be discarded for the introduction of this simple device.##You will be glad to know that today I dictated to the Phonograph matter of all kinds occupying me for nearly four hours, and it was typewritten by merely a mediocre operator without error-- The last month or two we could not use the Phonograph on account o the warping of the blanks and the anxiety caused by this was like a horrible nightmare.##Ia am taking the liberty of sending you some new [antiseptic] "ear drums" and hope they will be of service to you.##The photo you so kindly signed for me, together with the pen, have been elegantly framed and will be cherished by me as a souvenir of inestimable worth. Yours sincerely J Lewis Young
