Title

[D8963AAN], Letter from Henry D Goodwin, Wisconsin Phonograph Co to North American Phonograph Co, May 15th, 1889

Editor's Notes

Mr. Miller has arrived here and we have had a very pleasant talk with him. Mr. Miller, and I experimented on the jig-back arrangement so as to see whether it was practicable to have the reproducing needle of the Edison machine so set as never to require adjustment, and we have both come to the conclusion that it is perfectly practicable.### In fact, even as it is, I have removed the switch screw of the reproducer as I find that so many records are out with it that it is a dangerous thing to have around.### Mr. Miller, has got no better results from the little battery than we have. We can’t ship out the Phonographs at all with those batteries and it is a question with us whether we had better wait before shipping out Phonographs until we get the new battery from Edison, or whether we shall get some other battery. What battery would you recommend? The Roberts- Brevoort or what? ### The machines that we want is the treadle motor Edison with the switch screw done away with; both of those switch screws are nuisances and it would be better to have them off than on.
