- Pittsburgh, Pa. Mch 28 1889####Mr. A.O. Tate####Orange N.J.####Dear Sir####We received this morning a box from the Laboratory containing ten zines and 15 packages of chrome acid 1/2 [pdreach] also one barrell from Bergmann & Co containing six jars six po-ons caps and six Carbons & Connections. There should at last have been ten of each sent. We use one cell of battery for the local, [having?] 5 cells to work 130 miles, this is not enough, then again in case of breakage, we are left without battery enough to work the circuit.####I telegraphed you this [pm?] asking that four more of the different parts be sent at once.####The Phonoplex is up and ready for service we worked ok with actions today, this is the only thing ready for service in the office.####Mr. Smith the --- --- informs me that the operators will not be there until Sunday noon. The room is none in the ---- of the painters carpenters ---- women &c, if they don’t disturb the adjustment of the instrument of knock them off the table the Phonoplex will be ready for service when the telegraph men take charge. Mr Smith says he would like to have me stay until Monday but as the order came through Mr Taylor I had better consult him. I have telegraphed Mr. Taylor but have nothing decided from him as yet. Mr Smith has had no experience with the system and in ccase the adjustment is changed there will be trouble.####Pittsburgh Division####Please send by Adams Express to C.M Scheaffer Div Opr PRR Pittsburgh PA seven and one half pounds chrome acid. Mr Scheaffer desires to try the new solution with a view of adding sevvveral more affines to his circuit. He says the Bunsen battery is not reliable enough to place at a Way station.####I do not think it necessary to put the acid up in 1/2 pound packages, one will answer and will be more convenient to handle.####I will advise you as soon as the question as to the RR people taking ccharge of the West Penn offr is settled####Yours very truly####W.S. Logue####[name mentions: Bergmann & Co., William F Taylor, A.O. tate, William S Logue, Smith, Scheaffer]
