[D8966ACF], Letter from William S Logue to James W Gladstone, September 6th, 1889
Editor's Notes
Spt 6 89####Mr JW Gladstone####Orange NJ####Dear Sir####The 12 ells of renewed battery was put in service at 320 this pm. We notice that the 8 pounds of soda in one of the jars sent here was not very clean. We took out what looked like a [rusty? Looking?] doing all we could before putting it in the 4 jars and skimmed off as much as possible but I do not think we succeeded in getting the solution entirely clear notwithstanding the fact that we put the fired soda in the jars at 9 ---- and did not p--- the cells together until 145 [p?]m. Division Operator Taylor has kindly [considered?] to keep a sharp lookout for these jars and let us know -----ionally ---- they and the rest of the battery is doing. The solution in the other eight jars ---- quite clear.####Every care was used in getting all the impurities out of all the jars as the time we put in on the work will show.####The box with the old glass & plates in should reach the Laboratory on Monday or Tuesday, It is addressed to Mr Edison.####Yours truly####W.S. Logue####[name mentions: William Logue, James Gladstone, William F Taylor]
