Thomas A. Edison
Orange N.J.

Dear Sir:

I have your telegram of Even date and in reply beg to say that I investigated the Phonograph business somewhat in April last and at your request submitted to you a proposition in writing, to which I have received no reply up to date. On April 3rd A.O. Tate called upon me at the new [Club], and informed that you desired another and different proposition you would be willing to submit to me but since that time I have not heard from you.

If you are prepared to submit a written proposition to me now, I shall be glad to consider it and will give you a reply, within three days after receipt of it. I feel confident there is money in the business if we can supply sufficient working capital there is hardly room for failure at the same time I am not overanxious to control the business and, unless there is a prospect in it for personal property in large figures, could not afford too abandon other lines I am already in.

Hoping to hear from you I remain

Yours truly,
A.B. Dick

<Edison marginalia: From the tone of your letter I judge that you are not hankering after the phonogh connection so we will call it off.
