Mr. Maguire
Dear Sir
I have made a application for [illegible] a just [illegible] by paying so much month as they want reference I told him. I have been employed at the Edison Laboratory 5 years, if they should write to you them but I wish you will let them know I am a honest working man and unable to deceive anyone.
By doing so you will oblige me for begging to work for myself and in need of a letter for the orders I have in hand.
I hope you will do me the favor of a good answer to who will require and remain
Respectfully yours
E. Lauste
P.S. Please give my regards to Mr. Edison
