I just rec'd yours of 5th inst as I was starting for North Hastings not having time to write a letter I drop up this card. I will write you a letter + send you some papers when I return. You say I have plenty of time. Of course, I have "all the time there is," as an old Indian here told a man who was always complaining that he had no time. I have not abandoned the others but neither will I until the claims of the vets are honorably settled by [illegible] of England. By all means, write a good letter to Hon. Mr. Gladstone. I expect to hear from him soon. Your letters are doing a [illegible] of good. They are unanswerable by Knights of Canada. I will try + answer your questions when I return from Hastings. Yours
Geo. Merrill
