Dear Sir: 
I beg to acknowledge with very many thanks the receipt of your esteemed favor of 24th ultimo, informing me that, with the approval of the President, His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales, the Council of the Society have this year awarded me, on account of my services in connection with electric lighting, telegraphy and the telephone, the Albert Medal of the Society, which it is their custom to bestow annually for merit in the promotion of arts, manufacture and commerce. 
The recognition of my work by your distinguished Society is an honor of which I have the highest appreciation. I regret that no opportunity will be afforded for me to receive the medal personally from your President, but I await its arrival with great interest.
