Ernest Major, Esq.,
General Post Office,
Yokohama, Japan.
Dear Sir:
Your favor of the 29th of May to Mr. Edison was duly received by him, as were your previous communication of February last and the two copies of your “Waterdale Researches,” which you kindly has sent for his perusal. Mr. Edison wishes me to offer you his very best thanks for the two copies of your book, which he finds to contain interesting and novel views on various fundamental scientific facts. He regrets, however, that he has not sufficient time at his disposal to investigate your views fully; he is so very [------] occupied with other important work it would be impracticable for him to do so. Mr. Edison suggests that perhaps the best means of bringing your theories into discussion and consideration would be to place the book containing them at the disposition of the various Universities throughout this country, and also to forward copies to the leading scientific journals.
Again thanking you for your communications
I am, yours truly,
Private Sec’y July 12, 1892.
