W.A. Barr, Esq.,
Turners, Orange Co., N.Y.
Dear Sir:
Mr. Edison has received your letter to him of 8th instant. In reply he directs me to inform you that he knows nothing [--------] about C.A. Lyon & Son’s system of lightning protection, never having heard of it before.
Almost any lightning rod will protect a building against lightning, provided the rod is properly erected. When erecting a protector of this kind, a large area of copper and iron should be buried in the wet earth and metallically connected with the lightning rod system; this is all important and should not be omitted under any circumstances. Two or three lightning rod points will protect an area of about 500 feet.
Yours very truly,
Private Secretary.
