New York City.
Dear Sir:
I enclose herewith a copy of the agreement between Mr. Edison and the Edison General Electric Company of the 1st of October, 1890. During the past few months Mr. Edison has made certain inventions, notably fractional horse power motors and an electric light motor, and has tendered these to the Edison Cen’l. Electric Co. I would like to know if in the event of the Edison General Electric Co. failing to use those inventions, Mr. Edison has the right to manufacture and sell the same himself? There probably is not in the agreement any specific language covering this point, but if it be construed with as much liberality towards Mr. Edison as in warrantable, would we have any color of reason in [-------] the position which I have indicated above? I am anxious to hear from you on this point at the very earliest possible moment.
Yours very truly,
Private Secretary
