Dear Sir:- 
Mr. Edison received this morning your letter of 13th instant. He regrets very much that he cannot make an appointment with you immediately, for the reason that he is obliged to go out of town to-morrow to look after some of this mining interests, and will be absent in all probability two weeks. When he returns he will be very glad to see you at his Laboratory. Inasmuch as Mr. Edison’s movements are rather uncertain at the present time I would suggest that you telephone to the Laboratory before coming out and ascertain if he is here. Our telephone call is “511 Orange
