DeKalb, Esq., Room 809, No. 18 Broadway New York City Dear Sir:- Your letter of 18th ultimo was duly received, but reply to same has been unavoidably delayed owing to the absence of Mr. Edison, who did not return to the Laboratory until yesterday. Mr. Edison is desirous of securing the services of a competent person to take charge of an assay laboratory. He would like to know the nature of your present employment, if any, and where you have worked previously; also the salary at which you would be willing to engage with him, and whether you would enter his service on trial.
