August 24, 1892 Mr. Henry Lewis, Pennsylvania Telephone Co., Easton, Penn’a Dear Sir:- With reference to your letter of 22nd instant to Mr. Edison, I regret to say that at present there is no position vacant in his business to which you could be appointed, nor is there a prospect of an opening occurring in the near future. It is not Mr. Edison’s intention to make an exhibit of the phonograph of The Train Telegraph at Chicago next year. Whether or not the Companies controlling the inventions referred to will do so, I am not informed. Mr. Edison is now absent or I would consult him regarding your request for permission to use his picture on the circular which you purpose having printed. I will bring the matter to his attention when he returns to the Laboratory, which will not be for some time. Yours truly, Private Sec’y
