September 3, 1892 Cav. Carlo Barsotti, Chairman, Executive Committee for the Columbus Monument, New York City. Dear Sir:- Referring again to your letter of 8th ultimo to Mr. Edison, notifying him of his election as Special Honorary President of the Christopher Columbus Monument Committee, he has directed me to inform you that he will endeavor to be present on the occasion of the unveiling of the Monument, and should he find it at all possible to do so it will give him great pleasure to participate in the exercises connected therewith. He appreciates very highly the action of your committee in naming him Special Honorary President and will be glad to serve in that capacity. Very respectfully, Private Secretary.
