Messrs. Dyer & Seely, No. 36 Wall Street, New York City.  
Dear Sirs:- 
In your letter to Mr. Edison of 15th of August last you informed him that in his application 763, the Examiner insisted on having a sample of the phonogram blank in order to see the effect of burnishing the wax surface.  
A sample phonogram blank has been prepared and I send the same to you herewith by special messenger. In accordance with your suggestion, one half of the blank has been burnished and the other half left unburnished.
