Sept. 8, 1892. Messrs. Dyer & Seely, No. 36 Wall Street, New York City. Dear Sirs:- In your letter to Mr. Edison of 15th of August last you informed him that in his application 763, the Examiner insisted on having a sample of the phonogram blank in order to see the effect of burnishing the wax surface. A sample phonogram blank has been prepared and I send the same to you herewith by special messenger. In accordance with your suggestion, one half of the blank has been burnished and the other half left unburnished. Yours truly, Private Secretary.
