Sept. 9, 1892.
R. R. Bowker, Esq., 1st Vice-Pres't., The Edison Electric Illuminating Co. of N.Y.,

16 & 18 Broad St., New York City.
Dear Sir:-
By direction of Mr. Edison I forward to you the enclosed correspondence received from the President and Secretary of the executive Committee for the Monument of Christopher Columbus to be erected in New York October 12th, 1892. These gentlemen wish the Edison Company to furnish electric lights for the performance which is to take place after the ceremony of unveiling the Monument on the evening of the date mentioned. Mr. Edison has informed them that he is not officially connected with the electric lighting company and cannot therefore comply with their request; adding, however, that he would do what he could in the matter, and stating that the communication had been referred to the proper officer of the Edison Company, who would probably communicate with the Committee direct on the subject. If your Company decides to comply with this request, please communicate with the Executive Committee, or if you wish the correspondence conducted from this office, inform me of your decision in the matter, and I will apprize them of it. Yours very truly,
Private Sec'y.
