Sept. 9, 1892.
To Cav. Carlo Parsotti, Pres't., and Guiseppe N. Malferrari, Sec'y.,
Executive Committee for the Monument of Christopher Columbus, New York City.
Dear Sirs:-
Your letter of 30th ultimo was brought to Mr. Edison's attention on his return to the Laboratory yesterday.
In regard to furnishing electric lights for the performance which is to take place after the unveiling of the Christopher Columbus Monument on October 12th next, not being officially connected with the Edison Illuminating Company in New York it is not in Mr. Edison's power to comply with your request in this connection. He will be pleased, however, to do what he can in the matter and has referred your communication to the proper officer of the Company, who will in all probability communicate direct with your Committee on the subject. The Edison Electric Illuminating Company, 16 & 18 Broad St., New York, controls the Edison electric lighting system in that city, and the negotiations in a matter like the one in question should be conducted with it. I have just received your letter of September 8th and am referring it also to the New York Company.
Yours respectfully,
Private Sec'y.
