Sept. 10, 92. Geo. B. Scott, Esq., No. 16 Broad St., New York. Dear Sir:- Reply to your letter of 26th ultimo has been delayed owing to the absence of Mr. Edison, who returned to the Laboratory only a few days ago. He is very much obliged for y our offer to send him the bamboo sample which you mention, but as he is gradually discontinuing the use of that material for lamp filaments he will not trouble you to do so. Besides, one of his men travelled all over Venezuela and collected specimens of the different varieties of bamboo to be found there. Thank you for your letter I am, your truly, Private Secretary.
