Oct. 25, 92. J. C. Henderson, Esq., Engineer-in-Chief, Edison General Electric Company, New York City. Dear Sir:- Mr. Edison has received your two letters of 21st instant and is much obliged for the efforts you are making to secure for him a good engineer. In regard to Mr. Black, the engineer to whom you refer, Mr. Edison asks “How would it do for Phelps to see and examine him?” Also “What pay should such a man get?” He considers forty dollars a week somewhat stiff. Mr. Edison would prefer an unmarried man. Yours truly, Private Sec’y.
