T. R. Lombard, Esq.,
c/o The Chicago Central Phonograph Co.,
Chicago, Ills.
My dear Lombard,-
I have your letters of the 25th instant. The Columbia and Iowa Companies were communicated with, as arranged when you were in New York. I hope you will verify the statement that the Iowa Company has sold machines in their territory unrestricted. I will communicate immediately with Mr. Swift. I have been expecting every day to hear from him, but up to the present time he has not expressed himself.
The representative if the Western Penn’s. Co., whose name at the moment I cannot recollect, called upon me in New York a few days ago, and I arranged to give them a four months note in settlement of their account, they too receive from time to time the proceeds from the sale of the material which we take over, as such sales are made are made, the note being thus gradually reduced during the period of its maturity. They were looking for payment in about thirty days, but I explained to them that we required time to turn round, and their representative stated that this arrangement would be satisfactory. Mr. Butler had previously informed them that the exchanger would be able to take care of these payments any time after the 1st of January. The note will be dated some time in November and will fall due the first or second week in March. The representative of the Western Penn’s. Co. mentioned some details concerning agency etc., and I told him you would arrange all those. He asked if you would to Pittsburgh after the contracts had been put through, and I told him you doubtless would do so, and requested him to communicate with you immediately the contracts had been accepted. I will keep you fully advised of all that goes on at this end.
Yours very truly,
