Nov. 30, 1892. Charles R. Soles, Esq., P. O. Fox 61, St. Clair, Michigan. Dear Sir:- Mr. Edison has received your letter of the 21st instant, in regard to the installation of an electric lighting plant in your city, and in reply has directed me to inform you that the General Electric Company owns all of his patents pertaining to electric light. The Company named also controls the Thomson-Houston patents. If the contract in question is awarded to the Thomas-Houston Company, your City will be safe so far as patents are concerned, both on [arc?] and incandescent lamps, and the exaction of a bond would be unnecessary. With the other companies, a bond should be obtained- a bond secured by private individuals; otherwise it might be N. G. The head office of the General Electric Co. is in the Edison Building, #44 Broad St., New York. Mr. Edison is very much obliged for your letter and has asked me to thank you for it, which I do with much pleasure. Yours very truly, Private Secretary.
