West Bergen, Jersey City, N.J. March 14, 1892
Thos A. Edison, Esq
Llewellyn Park
Orange, N.J.
My dear Sir:
I do not know whether you are aware that strenuous efforts are being made by parties in West Orange to have Park Avenue continued through the Park, entering south of main entrance, passing across the lower portion and coming out on Mt. Pleasant Ave. near the south gate. Should this scheme be consummated it will destroy the privacy as well as the beauty of the park. You are, therefore, earnestly requested to attend in person the meeting of the Essex County Road Board to be held in the Town Committee room, Hedges Black, West Orange, on Wednesday evening March 16. Should you be unable to attend will you kindly write the Chairman of that Committee urgently protesting against such action and suggesting that by widening Valley Road (which is too narrow) between Park and Fairmount Avenues, more safely will be afforded the public and the same benefits, if any, accomplished.
Trusting you will see the importance of prompt action, if you desire to aid in keeping the Park intact.
I remain,
Yours very respectfully
Tho H. Spaulding
