Letterhead of The Reading Anthracite Pressed Fuel Company <Stamp: Railroad Station, MAHANOY CITY. P. & R. R.R.> Mahanoy City, Pa., June 4 1892 <Stamp: RECEIVED JUN 6 1892 Ans'd ______18> Thos A Edison Esq Orange N J Dear Sir In reference to the conversation I had with Mr Batchelor and yourself at the works here yesterday, I have since thought that we missed one very important item in regard to the percentage of Pitch. In fuel making owing to the fact that pitch & coal have about the same specific gravity, the percentage is the same, if measured by bulk as if measured by weight, whereas making bricks with the ore, the percentage would possibly be about the same if measured by bulk, but if measured by weight the percentage of pitch would not be much more than half the amount necessary in Fuel making. You will please pardon me for not having recognized you, as the great electrician, but the visit was so unexpected, that I could only think of it at the time as a similarity in name & I have not yet acquired sufficient of Yankee curiosity to ask personal questions. I feel quite proud of of the privilege of meeting you, & hope that you will have a long & healthy life to enjoy the fruits of your great inventive genius The probability is that I may never hear from you again so if you will please acknowledge the receipt of this letter over your own signature I should feel greatly obliged Believe me Yours Faithfully John Linton Manager Lock Box #1 Mahanoy City Pa
