July 5th, 1892
Mr. Thos A. Edison
Orange, N.J.
Dear Sir:
A communication just reached me from Mr. Alex Elliott of Paterson N.J. stating that you had requested him to find out whether or not you were yet obligated under the leases on the Mica Properties in New York, You in no way obligated, nor have you been as all leases + contracts were made in my name. Your name was never mentioned. The leases were recorded + moreover were so drawn that they became null + void upon non payment of dues. All material, tools, dynamite was taken away + sent to Mr. Burns who was then working a prospect at Silver Springs, N.J. Those leases need give you no uneasiness, as in no possible way can they be used against you.
If at any time I can do you a favor down here do not fail to call upon.
Yours experimentally,
Arthur C. Payne
