Letterhead of Edison United Phonograph Company
May 24, 1892
My dear Mr. Moriarty,
Your cable advising us you had succeeded in forming a Syndicate for England was duly received and I congratulate you on your success, personally. Mr. Henry Seligman received a long cable from his father but he did not show it to me, the matter however was considered in his office after bank hours on Saturday with Mr. Dolan & Mr. Edison, they did not adjourn until six o’clock.
Mr. Dolan is much encouraged the talked more confidently on Sunday when I saw him than he has since the organization.
I have no doubt that the success of this Syndicate will have a beneficial influence on other negotiations in progress.
The Pacific Phono Co offered to sell a machine to a man named Charles Wessel when he was in San Francisco for $150.00 but he thought it was not right & had his suspicions aroused by the plate restricting it, they also said to him they would not inquire what part of the country he wanted it for.
The people in South America have no difficulty whatever in getting all the supplies they want from San Francisco.
A Phonograph outfit complete was furnished by the Louisiana Co. in New Orleans to a man in Venezuela & Mr. Wessel said it was the best he has seen.
& Heaton Colon whose order for supplies we refused paid $500 each for two machines to Benjamin.
Your Sincere Friend,
[Signed] G.N. Morison
