1 June 1892 Dear Mr. Crisp, The only thing that I think I need point out to you is that I did not intend that the share of the Moriarty Group in the profit from the sale they say] they are able to make of the automatic Phonographs to exceed in the whole one half i.e. what I agreed to that instead of their taking a third to which they are strictly entitled, I would make it half because they were supposed to have had some trouble about it & were going to bring it out themselves. If on the other hand we were to bring it off & have any trouble about it they should only take their third as originally arranged which I think they ought to do, but I am willing to go to the extent of a half as above named. But the real crucial point is this that I did not & never have agreed to do more than pay £10,000 in exchange for Phonographs at an agreed price: Here you make me pay the price asked for Phonograph in addition to the £10,000. If they are willing to agree to these terms, Mr. Smith will be up tonight & I shall see him tomorrow about 1 o’clock & I should then be prepared to authorize you to send the letter with these modifications. Yours faithfully, [Signed] W.C. Quilter
