Letterhead of Edison United Phonograph Company
July 19th, 1892
S.F. Moriarty Esq., London, England
My dear Mr. Moriarty:-
We enclose you a copy of a letter written to the Foreign Committee, which explains itself, and it is possible that my letter to Mr. Halper will discourage him from making the attempt, but as he owns one Phonograph now, he may take it with him, it was purchased from The New England Phonograph Co:, and they said to him “We have no control over your machine after you have bought it, if you see fir to depart with it from the country, that is your business”, it cost him about $200. With everything, according to his statement.
Yours very truly,
[Signed] G.N. Morison, Secretary
P.S. I enclose you also a copy of the letter from C.A. Smith, Guthrie, Oklahoma Territory. I have replied in substance that the Territory was not for sale.
I believe the Committee have not yet forwarded the Assignment of Patents for this Country, to the Agent there, and call you attention to it, in order that you may look into it should you deem it necessary.
