New York, Nov. 4, 1892 My dear Mr. Edison: I beg to acknowledge the receipt of your favor of yesterday, enclosing copies of letters of recommendation as also your message over the telephone today, assenting to the granting of the Power of Attorney to Mr. Moriarty to execute a contract in England. I send you herewith copies of cables that we have just received from him, which will let you know what is being done. Please answer his question at once as to the shortest time within which we can deliver the machine, as asked. Yours truly, Jesse Seligman P.S. Please let me know tomorrow morning what answer to give to Mr. Moriarty in reference to the machines and cylinders, as it is very important. Send me at once full power attorney subject to ratification by board; do not delay an instant. Moriarty. Law requiring Company to be registered before contract can be signed, application has been made for registering first Syndicate. As contract contains absolute order for 1,000 machines, latest type, 10,000 dictation cylinders, 5,000 postal cylinders, cable earliest time for delivery here. Moriarty. I supposed that Moriarty knew that the postal cylinder feature was not yet a success. We can start making the 1000 machines without postal attachment at once and probably commence delivery made of 3 months. Edison
