- Editor's Notes
- I received a cable from Edison today to go ahead on my Ore scheme. Mr. Dredge has gone to Nice over Xmas and here I am with less then 1 (pound) to get over. I don't understand it, and have so writt Edison. This business of being left almost penniless in a strange country for want of business principles I cannot understand. You kindly loaned me 10 (pounds) and on my account now is due me over 30 (pounds). I have a small diamoond ring which is valued at 6 (pounds). Could you trust me 5 (pounds) on it until I can settle this matter. I cannot go anywhere Xmas unless I have some money. You know what I represent, and can be assured I am no "beat". It is only a careless force of circumstances. If so could I ask you to send it to me at the Hotel before 3 p.m. and I will mail you an order on Edison for the total amount. I was never placed in such position before and not knowing any one what can I do. In any event regard this as confidential. I am certain the time won'y be very far distant when I can serve you. Friend Munro, I may have to pay out 10 (pounds) tomorrow in the city on account fo belting pulleys etc for Ore Milling. Will you mail me cheque for 5 (pounds) in case I don't I won't use it but return it. Satuday I shall have my money from Dredge. I hope you had a merry Xmas. I did not and felt very lonely. You can mail it to Hotel or send it up by Vogel. Will see you Friday or Saturday.
