- Editor's Notes
- I write for Mr Edison to inquire if you received anything about a certain Distinct [Box] that was made at the shop of [---y] and Edison in Newark in 1873 or '74. It was a rosewood box about 6 inches long, 4 inches broad [just] [3] inches deep. It had a long steel arm projecting from one side with a hard rubber handle on it. the box was worked by pulling down on the handle which wound up a opening When the handle was released the clock work vibrates an armature in front of two spools on a permanent magnet and sent magnet currents over the line.## If you do not remember the operation you may recollect the approval of the box. Mr Edison thinks Kohler did the work on the mechanism.## Please reply at your earliest convenience
