Referring to yur letter of yesterdays date I beg to return you herewith Major Eaton's letter to Mr Edison & would like you to state in replying thereto that the investment in machinery is $250,000. In replying to the question as to how many machines are building say "375 machines representing 75,000 "a" lights and including 15 large Steam Dynamos or from $475,000 to $500,000 of work.##The other questions you can answer as you think best.##I may mention that it was on 3rd March 1881 that I first [inspected] the shop and after going through the place went with Mr Dean to see Mr Roach & leased the place
