- Referr Me to your favor of the 15th ult. I have no feeling particularly against Mr. Preece excepted that he acted pretty rough. I think the whole matter about that microphone controversy arose from my utter inability to conceive that a man of [---- ---] could see any difference between the principle of the microphone and the principle of the carbon telephone which are exactly similar as [---] think Mr. Preece will now admit t[--] [Illigible] therefore think that at the time I had considerable justification in going for him but [--] think that many men quite as scientific as he, have made the same mistake and should not say that the carbon telephone and the microphone were one and the same [machine] [---] Mr. Preece [---] [---] that he may want [--] ordered some time [illegible] to fill [illegible]
