Title
[LB008432], Letter from Thomas Alva Edison to George Edward Gouraud, August 10th, 1881
Editor's Notes
I have your various letters on this subject. If you will obtain from the [Society] [of the] Oriental Telephone Company & a formal declaration repudiating the Le [Geudia] Agreement I will sign it providing that it is accompanied by a document from you stating that you will bear one half of any expenses that may be incurred in defending myself against Le[Geudia] & shouold he obtain a judgment against me that you will bear half of this in fact that our arrangement to the effect that you should [---] the consideration paid me by the Oriental Company as [o--den] should be construed that you should bear half the loss should it be put to any (which I do not expect) in consequence of my sale to them.##I do not see what right the Oriental Company has to deduct anything from the purchase money if we supply them with the Declaration above referred to in as much as Le [gudue] would have to look to us for redress & not to the Oriental Company
