On May 1st 1882 we handed to Messrs Foster & Thomson for transmission to London the agreement for the construction of the Edison Gower Bell Telephone Coy regarding which we have received verbal advices that the said agreement was subsequently registered by Mr [Carpmael] and duly transmitted to the offices of the Edison Gower Bell Telephone Coy at 6 Lombard Street London##Will you make enquiry in London as to the present situation of the above company especially whether the Construction Company has subscribed for and paid into the Treasury of the Company the amount of stock which was agreed to be paid for by the Construction Coy [i.e.]##If not paid in please instruct Messrs Carpmael to look into the matter and come to an understanding with the Solicitors of the Construction Co. Also please take the necessary action in order that the shares stipulated to be paid to the Edison Telephone Co of Europe may come into its possession. Also please look into and advise us as to the present situation of the Edison Gower Coys business and what are its prospects in the different countries for which the patents have been turned over to the new company
