Title
[LB015002], Letter from Thomas Alva Edison to Edison Electric Light Co Ltd, December 5th, 1882
Editor's Notes
Your favor of 11th ult came duly to hand##I cannot understand why the "E" armature should have been bent. You say it occurred "presumably from bad packing." If when such a thing occurs again you will instruct your employees to enquire into the exact cause as our endeavour here is to pack everything as securely as possible. We think that more than ordinary care is taken and when an accident occurs desire to have full details##The part missing from "E" Dynamo no [80] left our shop in a box numbered [-]52 and was shipped by S. S. [Galley] of [--ne] on August 10th last. No other parts than those missing were in the box which would seem to indicate that it must have been lost. we shall send you other parts to replace the missing ones but would like careful search to be made for the missing box.##As to the packing of lamps about which Mr White has given us some further explanation I am sorry that such a comparatively heavy breakage should occur we exercise the greatest possible care & have experimented a great deal in different steps of packing The reports generally are very favorable to our present mode of packing yours being the first complaint of any consequence. If the breakage continues & you can suggest any way of preventing it I shall be glad.
