Editor's Notes
I beg to confirm cables as follows. To you March 29. See my cable sevenfour today situation desperate##From you March 31. Bailey and I doing our best you first [case] telegrams Italy [and ] [---] doing you serious harm##I am sorry that my cables should do any harm. So far as the Italian Co is concerned it is only by continual cabling & writing that I can even get our money at all out of them.##The London Co have paid us very promptly since whites return to England & I would not have cabled but for the fact that we were all desparately hard up. I am glad to say the London Co sent me a remittance of $5208.50 leaving only about $2496.57 due by them
