"The enclosed account of the Edison machine works for $5689.05 was rendered to the Edison Electric Iluminating Company has never be disputed in [illeg] ?? that company as [illeg] by Mr Calvin Goddard. The exception? issued was as to the amount of the account. For you rinformation I may state that originally 20?? Edison dynamos were ordered for the Illuminating Co many ???? the arrangement made was that all labor & mateiral should be paid for ???????? the quoted? to the paid on final settlement. The machine works were engaged on the works for several months & have received no remuneration whatever for the running of their shop, the use of their tools & mashinery, or for the depreciation of same. The machine works some two years ago offered to settle the account for $4?00. The offer so far as I am aware was never refused or accepted. On behalf of the Machine Works I may beg to renew the offer provided the account reseives immediate recognition."
