- Editor's Notes
- I wired you yesterday to know your address, but did not get your reply until I got here at the office this morning. I enclose {for} you {a} copy of letter received from Howe. The original I keep here as it may be valuable in the future. I also enclose {a} telegram received from Tate. The telegram is undoubtedly billed {handwritten, replacing the overstruck 'bold'} and moreover it refers to a letter which I have never received. I am trying to hunt it up at the Laboratory or somewhere else, and if I get it before the mail closes, {I} will enclose it in this. ##RAILROAD TELEGRAPH. I have sold 200 more shares at {price blanked out} today to the same party that took the 500 shares. I had to let him have it at this figure as it simply gave him the same discount that I gave on the previous transaction. I have told him that I will not sell him any more, as, if there is anything more to sell, I would prefer to place it elsewhere. We ought to take care of him in the foreign company. Please bear this in mind. ##I had a long talk with Dr. Crowell this morning and he is very anxious that {name blanked out} should be requested to refuse renomination on the Board of the Light Co. He has not attended any meetings except one during the whole year and the Doctor is very anxious that a more active man should be placed in his position. The Doctor says however that if it will in any way affect your relation with the {name blanked out}, he would say nothing about it. He thinks that you ought to go down and see these people and try and arrange for it. In place of this gentleman, Dr. Crowell would like to have {name blanked out} elected. Please think about this matter and the Dr. will discuss it with you when you return. ##Tomlinson will not let me buy the Florida land until you are here. He says there are some matters in connection with the title which he prefers you to take the responsibility about rather than himself, and of course, in accordance with your instructions, I shall do nothing as to this inasmuch as Tomlinson will not tell me to go ahead. ##{Handwritten addition:} Tate's letter has not come yet. I took Leah{?} to see Judie{?} last night.
