Title
[LB022434], Letter from Thomas Alva Edison to N.Y. City. Board of Education, Jacob D Vermilye, September 23rd, 1886
Editor's Notes
I have been informed that Dr. Otto A. Moses is a candidate for the vacant position of Clerk of the Board of Education. As you wish to know more about him, I write to inform you, from my knowledge of the man, that I hold him to be qualified to fill the office. ## I have been acquainted with Dr. Moses since 1878. He became one of my assistants and continued connected with me until 1882, when he engaged in independent investigations. Dr. Moses' powers as a scientific man, a literateur, a linguist, and a businessman, have been fully tested by me in my laboratory and library at Menlo Park, at Paris, and at the head of the statistical bureae (which he organized) of the Edison Electric Light Co. ## In all these employments I have found him equal to the work put upon him--and whoever is acquainted with my methods will know that means a good deal. ## During our entire connection I have never known Dr. Moses to be absent one day from his post of duty, and I believe him to be a man of integrity, tactt and energy.
