- Editor's Notes
- I went to Mr. Edison's house yesterday morning and had to wait until late in the afternoon to get his signature as he was asleep and the Doctor would not allow him to be wakened. I did not know Upton was going away last night and intended stopping at Newark in the afternoon to get his signature, but it was seven o'clock before I got through with Edison. It appears Upton left last night for Rochester. I should have obtained Edison's signature but depended upon Upton. This is most unfortunate and I have no excuse to offer beyond the explanation given. ## I fear I have placed you in an embarrasing position to get his signature, but did have telegraphed you for instructions as to how I can assist you. These notes cannont now be discounted confirm.
